5th Grade Program and State Parade

Oh boy! Today was a big day for Owen. He worked really hard on his state report. He was assigned Nebraska and he did great. And he stayed up LATE the night before to get his float ready for the 5th Grade State Parade. The 4th/5th grade program at the school is so great. They study Utah and American history and they sing our National Anthem and all sorts of other patriotic songs. It just makes my cry every time. They did such a great job!

Charlotte is such a trooper. She's been up at the school with me almost every day this year.

This year one of Owen's classmates invited her grandfather to attend. He was a career military man. He is about 90 years old and he came dressed in his uniform. When the kids started singing the National Anthem, he stood up before anyone else and saluted the flag. It was the most touching moment. I'm so grateful for our country and for all those who protect our rights and freedom.

After the program was the State Parade. The kids started from the 5th Grade back doors and went all the way around the school so the parents and all the students could see them. He wanted Charlotte to ride on his float and she was more than happy to oblige.

Also Owen recieved his Granite Grizzly and his Young American Awards that day. He did a great job working hard to do all the requirements (and there are lots of them!) to earn those puppies. Way to go OWEN!
