Allowance

We started an allowance system around here lately and it was a big hit! Each of the kids gets $10 a month. We taught them about tithing the first FHE after we started giving allowances and helped them fill out their tithing slips. They put $4 into savings and the rest is theirs to spend as they’d like. Daddy took them to target to let them spend their $5 and they came back with micro blanks. These teeny little resin models with paints (papa would be so proud!). Here is one that Owen painted. The kids have loved this. They love handing their tithing envelopes to the bishop. They love getting their own money. I love that when they ask me, “when are we going to by_____ toy?” I can say, “That’s a great thing to save your allowance up to buy!” Win. Win.

Cornelius Family Visit

We had the happy fortune to have the Cornelius family come and visit us for a few days on their epic trip across the USA. We partied while they were here. We took them to the Zoo one day and let the kids play and play. We rode the train and carousel more times than I can count! I hope it is a fun memory for them. I know we had a blast! We of course took them to Maddio’s so they could check it out and try the food. We hiked Stone Mountain, and it was HOT! The kids all did great too. Little Josiah walked the whole thing by himself. Then we went and cooled off in the pool for a few hours. The morning before they left, we sang Happy Birthday to me over Becky’s homemade chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Everyone, of course, had their own candles to blow out. We LOVED having Becky, Jason, Emma, Gavin, Josiah and Madeline come and see our neck of the woods. It was such a fun treat for us!
