February Little Things

Here are a few fun odds and ends from our February 2017.
Olivia and Nate had a Daddy Daughter Date for Activity Days. They played basketball,  had ice cream sundaes and the girls pretended to shave their dads with whipped cream!
I just had to snap these cute ones of my kids at church. They were being so cute together and it just was one of those family moments that made my mother heart happy.
Olivia sends the most adorable texts...I just have to remember how cute these are!

Albion Middle School had their maturation program this month. Nate had already had the talk with Owen, but they went anyway because it's just good information and we want to have lots of conversations with our kids. BUT FIRST they had to do a guys dinner at Crown Burger, which happens to be BOTH of their favorite burger. Like father, like son. Look at those smiles.

Being the PTA president this year has made for a busy year for our family, but the kids are enjoying being a part of the action. They are great helpers! The kids came with me to help set up the Book Fair this year. Here's Olivia in the library with the cute decorations from our Happy Camper Book Fair.
Jonah started Karate this month and is LOVING it so far. It's a great opportunity for him and it's something he's been wanting to do. Win Win! Plus, look how cute he looks in a gee?!?

I love how much art we have coming home this year. With 3 kids in elementary school it's probably the most we will ever have and I love displaying it in our kitchen. It's making me happy this month. I think they are all AMAZING artists.

Another happy decoration is our Christmas cards. I love putting them up on our cupboards in December. It just is so cheerful and it's one of my favorite Christmas decorations. Well, I decided towards the end of February that maybe it was time to take them down and it was just so sad. I should have left them up longer! Maybe next year I'll just move all the family ones to the fridge so I can keep enjoying them for longer.

We took the kids to Classic Fun Center one Saturday. Charlotte was there at a birthday party and I wasn't sure how she would do so we took all the kids and just played while she partied. They had fun on the bounce houses and the jungle. Owen tried out the arcade and we paused for a quick photo shoot with the Star Wars characters.

We had a little fender bender on the freeway that resulted in our car having to be fixed. Not such a fun part of the month, but thankfully no one was hurt.

Olivia made this card at school in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day! How great is this?!?

We had the kids work on the art sets that Miss Beth sent them and then they held them up as they sang "Happy Birthday" in a video we made for her. Here is Jonah working on his masterpiece!

And this photo of Jonah in the bathtub is just too awesome not to remember.

So that wraps up our February. Lots of fun with this awesome clan of ours.

This Month's Art: February

Owen brought home this awesome piece this month. Check out the shading on that apple!
Olivia and I attended a Relief Society Craft night and made these fun painted wood crafts:

And for her Birthday last month she got this cute ceramic painting set:
Jonah has the most art these days. I love how much art he brings home. I know it won't always be that way, so I'm trying to capture it.

Classic Fun Center

Charlotte was invited to a friend's birthday party at Classic Fun Center one Saturday. Not wanting to leave her there (I wasn't sure if she'd be ok with that or not), we all stayed and played. The kids chose to go in the Jungle Ropes Course and on the Bounce House. Owen tried out the Arcade too. They all had a lot of fun. We were even able to snag a few photos with some Star Wars celebrities.

Clark Planetarium

The kids were out of school so we spent Friday morning exploring the new exhibits at the planetarium. It was so much fun to see the kids enjoy science. It makes me so happy because I LOVE science and I love that I can explain things to the kids. It makes me feel like a good mom.
The pendulum is always a big hit. The kids cheer when it knocks over one of those pegs. We sat there and watched it several times.

Then we ventured upstairs to a new area where they have a small indoor playground which the youngest 3 kids loved. Owen chose to spend his time building a rocket. You choose parts and fuel and have to engineer it well so it can take off and get enough lift to leave the atmosphere. See? Learning and fun?? I love it!

Jonah had a great time figuring out how to navigate a spacecraft that only uses air pressure to move itself. It took him a while but he finally landed it right on target. After seeing the movie Hidden Figures with John Glenn, I am now assuming he will be an astronaut. He has mad skillz.

We ventured on to the cloud machine, the black hole detector and the heat sensor. All really fun.

We spent a good amount of time in an area that is designed to feel like you are on one of Jupiter's moons. It has rocks to climb on, rovers to program and drive, and volcanoes erupting.

All in all, we had a great couple hours exploring the planetarium.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was so fun this year.
Each of the kids picked out their own valentine's and I loved what they came up with. Owen opted for popcorn since he is doing his year of no extra sugar. He's doing so great!

Olivia chose crazy straws and we found some at the dollar store that were shaped like hearts too. Perfect! They turned out adorable. Jonah stayed with his Star Wars theme again and we added some Pixie Sticks as light sabers. Here's a few pics of the kids working on their Valentines.

The kids each had class parties. I love that they do their Valentine's boxes at school, so no prep work at home. They had a great day. It was Owen's LAST elementary school Valentine's Day party. He is on to middle school and bigger adventures next year. His mother's heart is breaking a little bit...

Olivia is a huge fan of cats and everything is about kitties lately, so it's no surprise that she decorated her Valentine holder with cats. Love that girl.

And Jonah's. He'd eaten half his candy before he even got off the bus that day.
And he brought home the SWEETEST Valentine's Day letter ever for Nate and I.

That night we had a family dinner. Nate brought home Pizza, everyone's favorite and we exchanged our family Valentines. Mine was sugar cookies for the kids.

Nate surprised the kids by taking the 3 oldest to see the Lego Batman movie. It was a huge hit!

And Charlotte and I got to stay home and snuggle. It was perfect for all of us. I sure do LOVE this family of mine. So grateful for each one of them.
